Grayscale or Pure B&W — which should I choose?
Grayscale looks better for PDFs with photos or graphics (it keeps soft shading). Pure B&W is better for scanned text documents — crisp, smaller file size and print-friendly.
What does threshold do?
In Pure B&W mode, the threshold decides which pixels become "black" and which become "white". A lower value turns more of the page black; a higher value turns more of it white.
