How does the AI know where the subject is?
It uses the same on-device subject-segmentation model as the Background Remover to separate the person or object from the background, then layers your text between the two so it appears to sit "behind" the subject.
Why does it say a ~40MB model downloads first?
The AI segmentation model runs entirely in your browser rather than on a server, so it has to download once — your browser then caches it for future visits, and processing is instant after that first download.
What kind of photos work best?
A clear, well-lit subject with a distinct edge against the background — a person, a car, an object. Busy backgrounds or subjects that blend into what's behind them are harder for the model to separate cleanly.
